When oral hygiene is poor, the formation of dental plaque will accelerate the discoloration of teeth.

When tooth decay occurs, it will present different colors ranging from yellow to black. The symptoms include pain and difficulty in eating.

Circular or oval ulcerated spots can be seen on the oral mucosa, accompanied by obvious pain. In most cases, a single ulcer lasts for about 7 to 10 days, and ulcerations occur 3 to 6 times a year.

In about 90% of genuine halitosis cases, the origin of the odour is in the mouth itself.This is known as intra-oral halitosis, oral malodour or oral halitosis.

The cause of plaque-induced gingivitis is bacterial plaque, which acts to initiate the body'shost response. This, in turn, can lead to destruction of the gingival tissues, which may progress to destruction of the periodontal attachment apparatus.

Dental calculus is formed as a result of the prolonged accumulation and transformation of dental plaque. Dental calculus is usually accompanied by bad breath, gum recession and gum inflammation.
